Aloha! Thank you for visiting my site! I’m a marine biologist based in Hawai‘i with a passion for advancing sustainable aquaculture, conserving reef ecosystems, and bridging the gap between science, policy, and community.
Kent's Fish was created as a platform to share my experiences, research, and passions with others to inspire and push science forward. Whether you're a fellow scientist, student, or curious reader, I hope this site provides insight into my professional and personal research and the values that guide it.
I'm a marine biologist, aquaculture researcher, and lifelong fish enthusiast. My fascination with marine life began as a kid with my pet fish and grew through hands-on experiences raising seahorses and other reef species. Inspired by pioneering aquaculture work at the Oceanic Institute, I moved from Alabama to Hawai‘i to pursue a career in marine conservation.
Beyond science, I’m a classically trained pianist, avid runner, and certified freediver. These passions deepen my connection to the ocean and the communities I serve.
Rooted in a deep sense of kuleana, I am committed to protecting marine ecosystems, fostering public engagement in science, and creating a sustainable future for Hawai‘i. My work focuses on the captive breeding of Hawaiian reef fish and the role of science in shaping environmental policy.
I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with researchers, policymakers, and local communities to develop interdisciplinary solutions for Hawai‘i’s marine conservation challenges.
